Amy Babb

I am a licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbal Medicine practitioner living in NWA for the past two years. Since 2009, I traveled with the wholistic tools of Oriental Medicine from Texas to Nepal, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Washington, D.C., bearing witness to thousands of people experiencing full relief of their ailments or a significant reduction in symptoms. I have seen numerous people use this medicine to live happily without the need for stronger interventions like pharmaceuticals and surgery.

I have successfully worked with people on a variety of health issues ranging from post-stroke recovery to chronic urinary tract infections, fertility and irregular menstruation issues, weakened or hyper immune function, depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic fatigue, digestive issues, post-radiation recovery and all types of physical pain.

I have a passion for helping people discover the root cause of a condition to promote healing and optimum wellness in mind, body, emotions, and spirit. I provide a calm meditative space for us to discover what your system needs and I believe that deep healing comes with joy and love.

My Background

Intellect and Spirit

The Great Books at St. John’s

I began my undergraduate studies at St. John’s College where students pursue reading the original works of the Great Books of Western civilization. Through reading, writing, and dialogue, students further develop their critical thinking and communication skills, thereby setting them up to do just about anything they wish to pursue. For me, a life with books and good conversation with friends is a life well lived.

Contemplative Psychology at Naropa

After three years of this stimulating education, I was then exposed to a slightly different approach of engaging the world through the Eastern contemplative traditions offered at Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado. Deciding to leave one for the other was a challenging process, but every day I experience the benefits of having developed my mind and my heart with the complement of both. The many hours I previously dedicated to reading, analyzing philosophy and discussing the mental constructs of others was now directed towards meditation, contemplation and self-reflection. I finished my Bachelor of Arts degree in Contemplative Psychology with a focus in Health and Healing and a minor in Religion.

Chinese Medicine at AOMA

Following Naropa, I found AOMA: Graduate School of Integrative Medicine, in Austin, Texas. I was particularly drawn to AOMA as their extensive mindfulness movement practices of Tai Chi and Qigong were not only part of the curriculum as a choice, but required. Additionally, AOMA has a reputation as one of the top schools in the nation and provides students with a world-renowned faculty to develop compassionate and effective practitioners. AOMA goes beyond teaching Chinese medicine and ensures that its students are also well versed in western biomedicine to provide truly integrative care. With this training, I finally felt that I found the balance between deep intellectual pursuits and the nourishment of my spirit. I feel honored to be a practitioner of this beautifully rich and effective medicine.
